Sentiments Behind the Significance (Early Learning)

overview

The way in which people commemorate days or weeks of national significance for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples depends on the sentiments behind the significance—is the day significant because it commemorates a sad or challenging time in Australia’s history, or is it significant because it celebrates a positive moment in Australia’s reconciliation journey?
This activity encourages children to develop their empathy skills as they reflect on the sentiments behind different days of national significance and create cards to express these sentiments.
