Reconciliation is about building stronger relationships, respect and trust between the wider Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. 

Formalising a collective commitment to reconciliation through the establishment of internal and external networks recognises the importance of relationships, and the value of working collaboratively to progress reconciliation initiatives.

Establishing a network of other schools, early learning services and/or groups from the wider community that have made a commitment to reconciliation can extend learnings and experiences, and can provide mutually beneficial opportunities for progressing reconciliation initiatives. It can also avoid duplication and can establish or consolidate a common direction.

Schools and early learning services with strong relationships between the RAP Working Group, staff and student bodies can draw on this network to progress cohesive reconciliation conversations and commitments.
